Produced Water Distillation

Generating Revenue from Produced Water

Produced water is currently viewed as a waste product within the Oil and Gas industry; but with new innovations in water treatment and distillation, there is now an alternative to deep-well disposal and an opportunity to
generate a secondary revenue stream from your produced water.

Using thermal distillation, we can enable:

  • Reduced produced water disposal well investment
  • Offset make-up water
  • Green hydrogen production
  • Reduce emissions
  • Beneficial reuse
  • Develop a positive ESG narrative
We have successfully piloted pre-commercial technologies such as Low Temperature Distillation (LTDisTM) and partner with commercially demonstrated technologies in a full water hub model to create a full project solution. We are happy to share the results of our ongoing technical evaluation of best in class technology.

Successful Low Temperature Distillation (LTDisTM) Pilot

Until recently, water distillation options required large amounts of input energy to achieve efficacy. However, by creating a low-pressure environment, LTDisTM technology lowers the thermal load and enable waste heat from machines and flares to distill the water for beneficial re-use and achieve a very competitive recovery rate.

This technology therefore not only minimizes distillation costs with minimal pre-treatment requirements, but also reduces your site’s GHG emissions. When coupled with releasing distilled water back into the environment, or reselling the water to agriculture or other producers, your site quickly develops a positive ESG narrative that can be leveraged for further capital funding.

Water salinity range, waste heat availability, and flow rates are key contingencies. Contact us for a feasibility assessment and more information.

We take ownership of our water treatment processes throughout each project and will consider several commercial models to best align with our client’s success.

Many of our projects are delivered under a fixed cost structure and include design, build, operate, and finance options that help see your project to completion. We also assist with grant applications and carbon credit generation information to further improve project economics.

ESG Reporting Consultants

ESG Support Services

Now more than ever, environmental, social, and governance (ESG) risks and opportunities must be considered at an early stage in project development. Several jurisdictions have already mandated climate disclosure, and it is anticipated to come into effect in Canada and the United States as early as 2023.

There also continues to be momentum in standardized global sustainability reporting that will have an impact on all industries. We are proactively monitoring the regulatory and reporting landscape so that your company provides ESG reporting that is comprehensive and accurate while ensuring it meets the most current regulations and standards.

We offer a comprehensive range of ESG services in support of your regulatory journey.

  • ESG materiality assessments & benchmarking
  • Climate change consulting
  • ESG reporting & compliance
  • Insurance, financing, and carbon credits
  • Social inclusivity studies
  • Opportunities in the energy transition
  • Corporate governance advisory
