2024 Readers’ Choice Awards Results!
Each year thousands of students in K to 12th grades from across the state of Illinois vote to choose the best books in their level. AISLE presents the Readers’ Choice Award on their behalf. This year 81,381 students casted their vote for their favorite book. And the winners are…
The Monarch Award, a K-3 award, was won by Chez Bob written by Bob Shea with 9,125 votes, followed by Stormy with 9,071 votes and There’s a Skeleton Inside You with 4,876 votes.
The Bluestem Award, a 3-5th grade award, went to Allergic written by Megan Wagner Lloyd and illustrated by Michelle Mee Nutter with 3,343 votes followed by Chunky with 2,226 votes and Floating Field with 2,074 votes.
The Lincoln Award, a 9-12th grade award, was won by You’d Be Here Now written by Kathleen Glasgow with 97 votes, followed by Huda F Are You? and #murdertrending with 95 votes.

2024 ANNUAL CONFERENCE

Come work for AISLE! We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join the Association of Illinois School Library Educators as our Registrar-in Training. The Registrar will play a crucial role in overseeing various administrative and financial functions, ensuring seamless operations related to conferences, workshops, and seminars. The ideal candidate should have experience in financial management, excellent organizational skills, an understanding of the AISLE organization and the professionals we serve, and the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
AISLE is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented individual to assume the role of Financial Secretary. The Financial Secretary will play a pivotal role in the administrative and financial aspects of the AISLE organization. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of financial management, adherence to regulatory requirements, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.

2022 AISLE Award Winners
Scholarships
Awarded annually, AISLE scholarships are specifically designed to support those who are taking school library coursework leading to Illinois licensure. Please review the individual scholarship pages for specific terms, criteria, and eligibility requirements. Scholarship applications are accepted between November 15 and February 1.
Grants
AISLE grants support current Illinois school librarians, those working to become school librarians, or Illinois school library programs. Please review the individual grant pages for specific terms, criteria, and eligibility requirements.
Awards
AISLE awards are presented annually at the association’s fall conference to recognize excellence in librarianship, service to the organization, or meritorious support of school library programs. Applications for the four standard awards may be filled out by any AISLE member. Nominations for the five honor awards are generated by the AISLE board, however the general membership may contact any board member to recommend nomination. Please see the individual award pages for specific terms, criteria, and eligibility requirements. The nomination/application window is open annually between May 1 and September 15.
