Under the targeted recruitment strategy RVTS aims to recruit doctors to locations of high workforce need across Australia.

Targeted Recruitment Locations are shown in the table and map below.  Of the advertised locations, the first locations to recruit a candidate who are successful through the RVTS selection process will be awarded training positions.

RVTS Training as a Recruitment Package

Following on from the successes of the RVTS Targeted Recruitment Strategy through 2018-2022, the Australian Government, Department of Health has continued funding of the program.  

RVTS has partnered with rural and remote communities of high medical workforce need to use RVTS training as part of a recruitment package.

This targeted recruitment has brought a stable workforce and enhanced continuity of care to these remote communities as well as providing career progression for the recruited doctors to GP Fellowship.

RVTS has supported the recruitment of 20 doctors to 24 remote communities across Australia, including 10 remote Aboriginal Medical Services, with high workforce need.

Under the Extended Targeted Recruitment Pilot RVTS is currently assisting the recruitment of doctors to 32 eligible rural and remote communities across Australia for training to commence in 2024. RVTS Applications will open again soon! Enquire now and be ready to apply.

Targeted Recruitment Applicant Guide - read before you apply

 

 

The first five locations to recruit a candidate who are successful through the RVTS selection process will be awarded training positions.

Where there are more candidates than training places per selection round, candidates will be ranked in accordance with RVTS selection criteria.

Successful applicants are eligible to commence RVTS training and will remain at the location for the three to four years of their training.
