Anaya Patel won the first of what would be a double gold on the day in the Girls’ Doubles, there was a family title for the Greens in the Mixed, and Ormesby held sway in the Boys’ as three Junior doubles titles were decided at the Mark Bates Ltd Cadet, U17 and Junior Nationals.
Patel & Millie Rogove were the first champions of the day as they defeated top seeds Mari Baldwin & Amy Marriott in the Junior Girls’ Doubles.
Brother and sister Connor & Erin Green then saw off their sister Anna, alongside Ben Piggott, in the Mixed Doubles.
And the final champions of the day were Ormesby pair Ben Piggott & Tom Rayner, who combined to beat Toby Ellis & Louis Price in the Boys’ Doubles.

Mixed Doubles
The final was a Green party as sister-and-brother pair Erin and Connor took on Connor’s twin sister Anna and Ben Piggott the ‘invited guest’ who was happy to crash the family affair.
It was Erin & Connor who held sway in a fiercely contested match, running out 3-0 (11-8, 16-14, 12-10) winners.
The path to getting all three Greens into the final saw both sets of pairs win 3-0 in the semis. Connor & Erin defeated Felix Thomis & Jasmin Wong 13-11, 12-10, 11-7, while Piggott & Anna Green beat Toby Ellis & Mari Baldwin 11-3, 12-10, 11-6.
In the quarter-finals, Ellis & Baldwin edged a close four-game tie with Naphong Boonyaprapa & Millie Rogove 3-1 (8-11, 12-10, 11-8, 13-11), while Piggott & Green needed five to shake off the Devonians Olly Cornish & Gemma Kerr (4-11, 11-9, 6-11, 11-9, 11-9).
The two ties in the bottom half of the draw were done in three as Thomis & Wong got past Maxim Stevens & Amy Marriot and Connor & Erin Green saw off James Hamblett & Isabelle Lacorte.
Back in the first round, there was one match which went the distance and it was Stevens & Marriott who sneaked through at the expense of Jakub Piwowar & Megan Jones, 3-2 (9-11, 11-9, 7-11, 11-9, 11-8).
Cornish & Kerr saw off Joseph Hunter & Scarlett Anders in four, while Hamblett & Lacorte got past the more experience pair of Tom Rayner & Anaya Patel, also in four.
Junior Boys’ Doubles
Ben Piggott & Tom Rayner took the title back to Ormesby with a tight 3-1 (9-11, 11-8, 11-9, 11-8) victory over Toby Ellis & Louis Price.
Piggott & Rayner came through a tight semi-final against the second seeds Connor Green & Joshua Bruce by a 3-1 (15-13, 8-11, 13-11, 11-8) margin.
During the match there was an amazing ‘behind-the-back show by Bruce:
Top seeds Ellis & Price also took four and had to come from behind to see off Joseph Hunter & James Hamblett 3-1 (7-11, 11-8, 11-9, 11-5).
Hunter & Hamblett came through a tight three-setter with Larry Trumpauskas & Yiannis Kazantzidis (9, 9, 9) in the quarter-finals, where it was an easier margin of 11-4, 11-4, 11-8 for Green & Bruce against Adam & Joseph Dennison. Piggott & Rayner also needed three against Owen Brown & Samuel Cooper (9, 2, 8).
The only match to go beyond three at that stage was the one in which Ellis & Price overcame Olly Cornish & Felix Thomis 3-1 (11-9, 11-8, 12-14, 11-5).
Back in the preliminary round, both matches went to a decider and saw a comeback from 2-0 down nipped in the bud. In the top half, Cornish & Thomis earned a crack at the top seeds by defeating Nahom Asgedom & Howard Onweng 3-2 (14-12, 11-8, 6-11, 9-11, 11-4).
At the bottom of the draw, the brothers Dennison edged Ralph Pattison & Isaac Kingham 11-8, 12-10, 8-11, 6-11, 11-9 to set up a tie with Green & Bruce.
Junior Girls’ Doubles
Anaya Patel took the first of two titles on the day and partner Millie Rogove her first ever national title as the pair overcame top seeds Mari Baldwin & Amy Marriott 3-0 (12-10, 14-12, 11-8) in another tight match.
Both semi-finals saw the victors come from 1-0 down to win in four. Patel & Rogove beat second seeds Jasmin Wong & Megan Jones 3-1 (10-12, 11-8, 11-6, 11-9), while it was victory for Baldwin & Marriott against Erin & Anna Green thanks to a scoreline of 8-11, 11-5, 11-9, 11-9).
Wong & Jones had a major fright in the quarters as Saskia Key & Sienna Jetha took them to 12-10 in the fifth. The lower-ranked pair led 2-0 but Wong & Jones finally cracked it and won 3-2 (4-11, 13-15, 11-4, 11-4, 12-10).
The Green sisters beat Samadhi Udamulla & Lauren Loosemore 3-1 (11-4, 10-12, 11-6, 11-8), and it was three straight for Baldwin & Marriott against Scarlett Anders & Isabelle Lacorte (8, 8, 7) and also for Patel & Rogove against Gemma Kerr & Jodie Morris (8, 7, 5).
In the two preliminary matches, Kerr & Morris beat Bethany Ellis & Niamh Scarborough in four, and Anders & Lacorte also needed four against Kirsty Maull & Sophie Rinnhofer.
